Coldest night

… of the winter. A mere -5.6Cat 500 alt. In the Veneto the previous night at1800m alt it got down to -35C. The cold air is now forecast to be replaced by a sub-tropical high for next week. No rain. Already northern italy is on alert for water scarcity into the summer.

I recently drew attention to our luck at avoiding earthquakes. That night Siena - 30 miles away - was hit by a 3.5 magnitude earthquake and 70 aftershocks that had people sleeping in their cars.
