Before meeting up with friends for lunch we had a walk through the woods in the Bush estate where I saw this beech tree which seemed strange that only the branches had been removed leaving the tall trunk.  Dead trees are good for wildlife but there would surely have been plenty of wood left for them if the trunk was cut much lower down.   By chance I came across a photo taken several years ago of the same tree saying on the web that it was diseased and was due to come down.   I was actually trying to find out about these steps which are on a steep slope between what appears to be a track between two low walls leading from the Glencorse Burn and wonder if it was originally a path leading to Glencorse Old Kirk.  Perhaps Flumgummery knows.
