The owl and the magpie

This afternoon we went to Burton Mere where we saw lots of waders and enormous amount of herons. There were at least 14 in two seperate groups. We also saw lots of lapwings which flew in and out a few times. I had plenty of choice for a blip but as we were leaving with the sun low in the sky , we saw a barn owl being attacked by a magpie! Then it turned and chased the magpie. It was a long way away and this is very well cropped but it was exciting to see! Then, we saw the owl again but sadly it was swooping too low among the reeds for me to photograph.
