Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

First and last!

Archie and I popped round to pick up my prescriptions this morning, and on impulse, popped in to the cafe. I reckoned JR would be coming this way soon, and perhaps would like to have breakfast bought for her.

When the coffee was brought out, the young woman asked if Archie would like a ‘puppuccino’. He’s never had one before, and probably will never have one again, as his beard got covered in froth, and became a solid mass. But he loved it.

I then got a text saying a couple of gym folk were coming for a coffee, one of them to look at the e-bike, which has been in the shed since it was abandoned as a ‘not such a good idea’ a couple of years ago.

I reminded her that the shed is impregnable. The combi lock just gave up the ghost yesterday, after I’d actually bought a new padlock. Can’t get it opened, but a friend is coming round with his grinder on Sunday… so the visitors just had a coffee and muffin instead.

Archie and JR went out for a big walk down town, through the Gardens and back, while I did my exercises and then read my book.

The play last night, ‘Macbeth (An Undoing)’ was very good, though rather long. We had second row seats, so I didn’t need my new specs. My recollections of Macbeth are rather vague, just boring readings in the classroom many decades ago, and I didn’t pay attention. It was in modern dress, (did Shakespeare use the ‘f’ word?) and involved a LOT of fake blood.
