Tosca and her mum came round for a cuppa this morning. JR made raspberry muffins, which went down very well.
Tosca’s mum is a classical violinist, her husband a top pianist and they know lots of musicians who live in the area. We had a lovely chat, and I’m sure we’ll be able to meet up more. Her (musician) neighbours are Kiwis, so JR is keen to meet them too.
After that we all set off to collect my new specs down in Morningside. I had intended walking there and bussing back, but my foot was sore, so the others walked and I got the bus there and back.
I woke this morning and thought of the poor folk in Turkey and Syria who endured those huge earthquakes (and aftershocks) and are trying to shelter out in the open, in the winter. There is SO MUCH bad news at the moment, and not just politics and climate change. A woman is still missing while out dog walking, the new head teacher at Epsom College murdered by her husband, who also shot the child, then himself, and a MET police officer who raped humiliated and enslaved at least 12 different women for about 20 years, and got away with it, but has now been sentenced.
Off to the theatre tonight - can’t remember the last time we did that. Years ago we used to go to the preview shows, which cost about £5. Archie is going to spend the evening with Pip. And I’ll try out my new specs.
