Settling or testing

The resident swan pair on our nearby pool built this nest last year and aborted it and came to a different place. It does seem a little early for sitting on nest so wonder if she’s trying it out first, she has been there a few days.
Yesterday whilst walking in meadows I came across swan (teenager) I took a picture as they look quite awkward walking on grass. When I got to Forgemill a lady stopped me said she was a volunteer and a walker had reported seeing a swan in the field and was wondering if they should report it to Swannery. Told her I had taken a picture and it seemed o.k. Think it has been turned out by parents who don’t want it hanging around - it was the only survivor from last year. If I still have photo will put it as extra.
