The accidental finding

Pizza party with Union Steve

It was Union Steve's birthday today, and mine the following day, so we had hatched a plan at the Trinity Rooms to have a joint party at the new sit-down pizza restaurant, Fat Toni's. Fortunately the restaurant opening was completed on schedule, and a booking was made. Fortunately, they were able to change the booking at the last moment, to accommodate fourteen people instead of ten! My guest list kept getting longer.

We both brought guests, and some of our lists overlapped or the people knew each other anyway, and it was all jolly, though we had to shout because the venue was echoey, and there was music that we kept asking to be turned down....I'd also have liked to be able to move around more, so as to mingle, but the seating arrangement didn't make that possible. Anyway, the Parma ham on my pizza was exceptional, and so were the rosemary and garlic fries, and I hope that everyone had a good time. I did.

I got given some unusual presents: ice-grips for walking on ice and snow; a six-pack of Milky Way bars;  some dug-up mystery bulbs; a fabulous bunch of tulips, a pair of socks, and an orchid. GG brought me a helium balloon and some earrings, and spent the whole evening talking to the owner, Fat Toni.

When we left, J and L walked Union Steve up to the station because he had to catch the last train back to Stonehouse. They waved him off ceremoniously, I'm told. CS and I took our neighbour home, and I went to bed, tired but happy.

The money in this picture is because Union Steve and I were trying, with difficulty, to sort out the finances, whe someone else was taking group shots.  We got there in the end.
