Shopping excitment
Well we didn't win the quiz last night so no trophy blip for you today. We started poorly and despite some very good rounds we left ourselves too short at the end of the evening.
There has been much excitement amongst the international community in Georgetown as a new butchery and bakery has opened. It is being run by a company from neighbouring Suriname (Dutch Guyana), and it is extremely well stocked with fresh meats and cooked meats and cheese as well as fresh bread baked on site. The excitement is due to the fact that alot of luxury food has to be imported, so when a container arrives there is a network of text messages and emails alerting people when fresh produce arrives.
However this shop appears to be well stocked everyday, and it looks just like a butchery in a supermarket back home. I have not seen a shop like this in Georgetown. They seem to stock almost any part of animal ranging from cow heels for cow heel soup to chicken feet via Argentinian beef and quality looking sausages and burgers.
We went here for lunch to get some real sandwiches, although we still had to call at the Roti Hut across the canal to get drinks and the chocolate for the afternoon.
It's pizza buffet night tonight, and then it will be my final day in the office.
