La Fheile Bride/St. Brigids Day..

1st February....and the feast day of our national female Saint ...St. Brigid....also known as ‘Mary Of The Gael’ ....she is very special to us here in County Kildare...where she founded the first ever Irish Monastry.

And this year, next Monday the 6th we have a new Bank Holiday in her honor.
This is my St. Brigids Cross...woven from local dried rushes (although I didn’t make this one)..
This cross has always been displayed in most Irish homes (generally over the front door entrance) and it is said to help ward off ‘evil, fire and hunger’.
It’s now replicated in many ways especially in Celtic Jewelry.
Anyway on this 1st day of Spring I wish you all the love, peace and blessings that St. Brigid can bring you...!
My extra are (some very badly photographed little birds) that were on my front lawn as I opened the blinds this morning...
