Duck Walk
Another duck-blip.
Upduck
The pond at Archerfield, East Lothian, had some new arrivals a couple of weeks ago. Three white ducks and a fancy mallard cross drake (who seems to be very hard to photograph because of his shiny colours).
We have noticed this week that they are really not coping very well with living wild and we have been taking bread and tit-bits to feed them until we can get some duck pellets.
I asked the boss and master of all things if he knew anything about them and he told me that he did. They were bought by a neighbouring business; a farm shop/delicatessen/brewery/cafe kind of place, to go in their duck pond in their Walled Garden. They were delivered to OUR duck pond.
So the poor things are basically abandoned into the wild and having to cope on their own.
He told me that the owners of the ducks said that they would leave them, because they would never manage to catch them now.
I said they should go to the pond on a Monday morning and hold a piece of bread in the air.
They would be fighting off ducks with a stick! They come running.
