Got up reasonably early ready for plumber no 1 to arrive at 9am as agreed. He (or rather his Dad) arrived at 10. No problems though- was a very nice man who had retired last year and helped his son out occasionally. The radiator in the downstairs loo went in very easily and he fixed the loo seat for me where a bolt had come loose. Plumber no 2 phoned just after he left to ask if he could come round in an hour or so to try and find the leak in the upstairs bathroom. I moved my day around- I want this sorting!
He arrived at 1ish and was there for 3hours. There was a block in theshower drain which he easily cleared. That explained why the water drained away very slowly when D used the shower, but not the wet patches on the kitchen ceiling. He took all the trim off the shower tray but everything was bone dry underneath. Also tried to look behind the loo( concealed cistern) but again everything looked dry. We had a cup of tea and talked it through! In the end decided that the leak probably wasn’t the shower, and was more likely to be the toilet. He managed to get a bit more access by cutting some of the tiles which can’t be seen and redid all of the seals. All a bit frustrating but I can understand that it’s really tricky to work out where the leak is. We agreed that I would monitor the dripping in the kitchen, which has almost stopped, and once everything has dried out I will flush the loo and use the shower and we will keep everything crossed!
He left at 4ish so I spent the rest of the afternoon doing some sewing for upholstery and starting to strip the small footstool.
No photo opportunities so here is an EB of a bud vase myDad turned for me last week and some stones from Farr Beach Sutherland (2016 holiday)
