The ghosts of Dry January

Non alcoholic beers are so much better than they used to be and kombucha is a real asset as it’s delicious with food and interesting enough to drink on its own. But these spirits are a waste of time and the spice version is positively nasty. My other tip is apple juice and tonic which is a good faux cider.  

Zipped over to Mum’s but as I was late she’d already had lunch so I just ate my soup in front of her.  The morning was a bit of a pile up of things I had to do but when I got back home mid afternoon I felt much more relaxed. 

Hannah went off to her aunt’s birthday party and we had a nice dinner before watching Aftersun the Paul Mescal film on MUBI.  Beautifully shot and edited, the director should have been nominated,  the film was so moving.  Paul Mescal deserves his Oscar and BAFTA  nominations but I suspect he won’t win.
