Blue mill

For those of you who don't like twiddling with Photoshop ... look away now!

On a very windy, but bright day, the tour guide at the windmill kindly permitted me to sneak out onto the walkway and risk my own life to grab a hasty wide angle shot on my camera. I had an image in mind and this is close to what I wanted to achieve. The straight forward shot out of the camera was pleasing enough ... technically ok, but I'm much happier with this.

The technique is called a "gradient map" whereby you tone an image with colours and then apply a little bit of dodging and burning. Quick and simple. It's best if you can highlight a colour that already exists in the image. Think B&W but in this case, blue and yellow.

Hope you like it?
