Alligator! (Or not)

This one happens to be a "not." Just a big monitor lizard. They are common in parks and swampy areas in and around Bangkok. As more concrete takes the place of their natural habitat, they are showing up more and more in unexpected places.

One of my friends had a monitor lizard like this climb into his house water tank. (We are still trying to figure out exactly how it found its way in there.) One day the shower water had a horrible stench to it. After some investigating, the culprit was found deceased in the tank below his house. Eeewwww!!!
