what a crappy day
In comparison to NYC, LA, San Diego, San Francisco, Miami, and Washington D.C., Chicago has extremely cheap real estate (well the cheapest of that whole bunch). At first glance it seems like a steal.
It's the 3rd largest city in the country, it's physically in the middle (no 6-7 hour cross country work flights), fair amount of jobs in all fields available, a good public transit system (again compared to the others above), easy to navigate while driving (grid based system). Plus just like any other city it has plenty of fine restaurants, museums, sports teams, even a few interesting historic landmarks and gorgeous architecture (and I'm not even one to appreciate that). Although there's no ocean, the lake certainly offers many ocean like benefits (boating, views, etc.). Even in the real estate disaster Chicago is fairing quite well compared to other large cities.
So why so cheap then... ahhh yes, well if you've lived here for more than a week you know why. The weather is awful. No awful is not strong enough it's atrocious.
It's been cold, wet, and rainy since Monday. It's almost June and still no summer. This is terrible, I used to like how there were some bad weather days because it allowed you to do things inside... but this is ridiculous. I'm sick of it and want to move. Plus our lovely never ending winters will be right around the corner.
So anyways, last night I was exhausted, no clue why. I couldn't fall asleep and when I finally did I kept waking up throughout the night (about 6 or 7 times). It was awful, not sure what was going on. When I woke up I worked out, went to work, and got a sore throat.
By the time I got home it felt like I had swallowed razor blades that were on fire at the time of consumption. I had 3 cups of hot tea, but still my throat hurt. So I walked to CVS (in the wet cold rain) and bought $20 in random sore throat stuff. It's working a little, but this sore throat has come on really strong - I hope it's not strep or something.
Anyways, I watched the Sting, great movie (my first time seeing it), and now I'm going to sleep (if I can). No more video game art for blip, I promise.
