A Tale of 2 walks.

Today's weather was different, as expected. A little warmer and a little wetter - mostly just mizzle, not enough precipitation to merit waterproof trousers. I spent the morning cooking - bread, a banana and coconut loaf, and lime pickle rice for this evening. Then I had the afternoon free for walking.

II had arranged to meet Joanna at 3pm at Friar's Carse, and since I was already headed for that part of the world, I had a walk on my own around the loch at Dalswinton. Still quite a bit of ice around its edges and some on the surface too. This was taken from a grassy knoll above the loch - there's a bench up there which will be a nice place to sit later on in the year.

Moving on to Friar's Carse, I met Joanna and we walked along the Nith to Ellisland. All was quiet  - there were goosanders on the water, otter footprints on the path and snowdrops opening at Ellisland. We walked where Burns wrote Tam o'Shanter and thought of him living and working in that beautiful place. Wednesday is his birthday and Burns Night, of course.
