Glasgow Mural / Celtic Connections 2023
In town for an excellent early evening concert at Celtic Connections, Glasgow’s annual folk, roots and world music festival.
My blip is part of a well known mural on a gable end wall at the end of the street where the City Halls venue is. Glad I took it before we went in as there was no opportunity to get a shot of the musicians, Juliette Lemoine, Matt Carmichael, Fergus Mcreadie & Charlie Stewart.
Some info: “Juliette is set to burst onto the Scottish Traditional Music scene with her debut album ‘Soaring’, released with a launch performance at Celtic Connections 2023. The album was awarded a grant from the Beatrice Huntington Foundation to fund recording costs, and the emotive compositions weave through Scottish Traditional, Western Classical and Jazz genres to create a highly personal new voice. Leading an all star band featuring tenor saxophonist Matt Carmichael (BBC Young Jazz Musician 2020 finalist), pianist Fergus McCreadie (Mercury Prize nominee 2022) and fiddler Charlie Stewart (BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2017), this will be a euphoric celebration of the theme of freedom.”
