Icebergs
A day at sea, on the way to South Georgia. The conditions were worse than the Drake Passage - huge swells, crashing waves, exciting (for us, not for some poor souls). Yet, we were facing the conditions in comfort while tracing Shackleton’s 800 mile route in a small boat, miraculous.
We had talks on Antarctica’s ice & geology, the seabirds of the Southern Ocean and a fabulous 15 minute film about South Georgia narrated by David Attenborough.
Free time spent on deck looking for icebergs, whales & birds.
