Hot water
On waking this morning, Mr hazelh suddenly remembered that we have a switch for an electric immersion heater hidden away in a cupboard in our kitchen. We don't think that we have ever used it. If only we had realised yesterday that we had this option for heating water. Then we would have been able to bathe before bed as usual.
At breakfast time we turned on the heater switch and, lo and behold, an hour later we had hot water once more! Here is the magical device, blipped in action, .
With all our electric heaters and the gas fire in the sitting room, we will survive without central heating until our boiler is fixed - hopefully tomorrow (Saturday). The only room which is a no go area is the study. It's 6 degrees in there today.
I split my day between exercise, cooking, socialising, and planning to socialise. I rode my exercise bike, walked to my new gym to collect my membership card and locker key, prepared a simple three course supper*, entertained a special evening guest, and planned my next trip to London.
Our guest tonight was our American friend Rhea. She has popped over for her first post-lockdown trip to the UK. We last saw Rhea on 4th June 2018, but it doesn't feel so long ago.
We have discovered the US version of The traitors. On the whole, we prefer the British version, but this programme is still addictive viewing for me and Mr hazelh. (Mummy hazelh is watching it with us too, but doesn't really follow the 'plot'.) Alan Cumming is a marvellous host for the game.
*Tiny filled cheese scones as a starter, a soy and honey salmon bake for the main course, and fruit salad for pudding.
Exercise today: 40 minutes on the exercise bike; walking (11,913 steps).
