Land

Finally reached the Antarctica Peninsula and saw land in the morning. Very cold, overcast & too windy to do landings so we had 2 zodiac cruises - first around Gourdin Island (we were both at the front of the zodiac and got drenched, you soon find out your waterproof trousers weren’t as waterproof as you thought!)

Thawed & dried out over lunch then out again to Hope Bay where we saw lots of icebergs & gentoo penguins. 

Hope Bay has an all-year Argentinian research base called Esperanza - the first baby ever born in Antarctica happened here.
