Bruin the Polar Bear
This statue is in the High Street in Dundee and commemorates a Polar Bear called Bruin which escaped from an exhibition in nearby Commercial Street in November 1878 and ran amok through the city centre. It was safely recaptured after following a woman into a drapers shop where it became fascinated by its own reflection in a mirror. The man being chased in the sculpture is Mr Jamieson whose shop it was .
