Crocuses

Crocus sublimis, wild in parts of Greece and neighbouring countries, a mountain plant which flowers as the snow melts in the wild, like many other Spring crocus.   Our snow and ice has gone in town, the mountains inland still have their sugar frosting.   It's really too early for the spring crocus to do their best.  The sunlight is stronger and warmer in another month helping to keep them from flopping and bringing out early pollinators.   Right now the only pollinator is going to be me and my fine paintbrush.  It still needs mild nights for the fertilisation to succeed but in our stop-go winters, that's what is coming next ... well, milder at least.

Apart from fussing over a few flowers, I've seen another applicant for the PA job, this time someone I know and have worked with myself.  A happy catch-up and discussion.   I'm still fielding enquiries from new applicants too.   At work there was an hour of Fire Extinguisher training, outside so we could have proper hands on instruction .... and real fire!   So much more useful than book or screen learning.

The dogs had another joint run at the ball field.  Strategic throwing of Meg's ball and Bella's plastic stick gave them both good exercise.  Two dogs sleeping on the sofa now.   I might do the same having enjoyed home cooked Sweet and Sour Chicken meal, baked sponge and a bottle of tipsy ginger beer!
