Embarkation

We boarded the MS Seaventure in Ushuaia at 4pm, settled into our lovely cabin, then called for safety briefings and an emergency procedure rehearsal.

Then a welcome party at 6pm to meet the expedition leader Danny (on the right) and his enthusiastic international team of historians, geologists, marine & avian wildlife experts, environmentalists, customer service, doctor and entertainer Randy (who was on our last trip in 2015 - his repertoire has barely changed!).

Although we had an itinerary of Falklands, South Georgia then Antarctica, Danny showed weather & wind forecasts for next two days and it was extreme in the Falklands so before leaving port, the itinerary was completely reversed and we would start with Antarctica.

The weather (especially wind) played a huge part in the planning of next couple of weeks.

It was even too windy to tackle the Drake Passage so the ship left Ushuaia to settle in a sheltered bay in the Beagle Channel for the night.

Meanwhile 109 passengers started to get to know each other over dinner & wine.

So excited and delighted to be here.
