Fraternal Portrait

My brother has been having a really tough time recently but all I can do is help as best I can, be there for him as much as possible, try and take his mind off his troubles and just sometimes make him laugh by doing or saying something really silly.
This portrait was inspired by his love of photography books and I wanted to try and capture him doing something he loves and that gives him peace of mind. So this is him sitting by our front window perusing one of his latest acquisitions - a book called "One Hundred Years : Portraits of a community aged 0-100" by the photographer Jenny Lewis, published by Hoxton Mini Press. Each page has a different portrait of a member of the local community aged from a new born baby to a 100 year-old. It's wonderful.
Jenny Lewis is an award-winning portrait photographer who has lived in Hackney for 16 years. Her work focuses on visual storytelling within her community, championing women's experience and underrepresented voices. She says in the book something which is so true: " I've thought for a while now, that the ordinary is actually pretty extraordinary. You don't have to look far to find the good stuff on your doorstep."
So this is my tribute to my brother. Never give up and you're stronger than you think. Love you bro!
