Bit of fine weather

We saw a bit of better weather in the east, so headed in that direction. We took  the Roman Road and found it very strange - wandering around the Hadrian's Wall country with no one else around. Hardly any cars on the road, car parks empty - weird but very nice.

There were some bright intervals  - here I caught the sun as it lit up Cawfield Crags beyond the quarry face. In the distance is part of the Wall and in front of us is the Vallum.

We had a bit of lunch at The Sill - there were quite a few people there, possibly because it was the only place open! They happened to have a lovely exhibition of paintings, words and sounds associated with the Spell Songs - a delight. I liked this blown up tree painting (Extra)

And then of course we could go in to Hexham and shop at Waitrose - always a treat.
