Jerez
I finished off the Christmas Sherry last night and today, before sending the bottle to the bottle bank, I took a photo to remind me what kind we had, as we liked it.
I know very little (nothing) about sherry and only buy a bottle at Christmas. I always associate sherry with Christmas as it's what my parents always had in the house at that time. When my mother came to us for Christmas she would insist on having Harveys Bristol Cream. As we didn't like this I also bought a bottle of Harveys Dry (I think that was what it was called). We didn't care for that very much either!
Since then I have always got a bottle at Christmas. The rest of the family think it's a bit of a joke as I offer everyone a glass of sherry for opening presents time. In the past they have turned down the offer, but I notice that, since I have been buying better bottles (chosen by the guy at Kendal Majestic) there has been much more of a take up. I really must find out a bit more about sherry and maybe buy a bottle at other times of the year!
The glasses on the right of the picture are two of a collection of sherry glasses that came from my grandmother's - I can remember them being in a glass cabinet in the sitting room. I prefer the tall Riesling glasses on the left - brought back from several holidays in Alsace. The grandchildren love to use the dumpy ones at the table.
