Glass: Competition

Blue bottles with twigs and gladioli.

It's hard to imagine anything more glorious than an array of white, pink, red, and purple gladioli in bloom, but these cobalt blue glass bottles are giving them competition.

The bottles are what's left of some fancy-schmancy mineral water. I never buy that stuff, but I wanted the bottle! First I bought one, then I went back for a few more.

I love glass. Even plain clear glass. But colored glass, like the kind polished by the waves and picked up on the beach, is especially special.

I usually keep the blue glass bottles on my kitchen counter, filled with these twigs from a flowering tree of a year ago. Today they needed a little sun to bring out their fabulous color. And a few flowery friends.

I was going to stop announcing every day that this is part of DDW's May challenge. The first word of the title is the assigned topic, and I thought you could get to the list from the tags.

But oops, they don't work that way, so I'll continue reminding you. You might just want to join, you know. It's never too late!
