Have: News: Something wicked this way comes

Portland General Electric power station across Knott Street from Matt Dishman Community Center.

Again, two challenges: 'Have' (for the week) and 'News' (for the day).

"Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got till it's gone." --Joni Mitchell.

Here's the news.
What I have: a parking lot.
What I won't have tomorrow: a parking lot. In fact, the whole block will be blocked.

How can I get to the pool? Where will I go for my yoga class?
I'm ready to pave paradise!

This photo was taken from the (soon to be closed) community center parking lot as the chartreuse pinny-clad workers in white hats (which should really be black hats) prepare their earth-eating monsters for tomorrow's invasion. This was news to the community center until yesterday, since two separate, not mutually communicative city bureaus are involved. How long will this last? Nobody knows. Today we heard a rumor, "a couple of weeks." That of course is construction-ese for a couple of months. Harumph! Bah humbug!

Ornithological note (thanks to Sir David Attenborough via BarneyofBexhill):
These flightless birds are a New World species. The workers can be seen shepherding the female to its grazing spot. (Yes, they graze. Somewhat like the duck-billed platypus, they exhibit characteristics not normally found in the same phylum.) The male can be seen at the rear of the red brick building.
Their Old World ancestors can be viewed here.

Note also that the parent of PGE is Enron. Need I say more?

If I don't visit as often or respond with alacrity, it's because I need to sleep for about three days straight and then catch up with blip-neglected duties.
As for the growing heaps of paper clutter in my immediate vicinity...
