Not quite to plan…
A rather dramatic end to the day when Richard fell descending steps in our yard. He hit his head causing a huge haematoma on his forehead and severing an artery. Thank goodness for all the First Aid courses I have done over the years! I have never seen so much blood spurting out of a cut. Managed to curtail the flow of blood with two packs of dressing and two bandages. Bundled him in the car and took him to Scarborough Hospital.
It took four medical staff to manage the blood flow locate and stitch the offending artery. Good job I didn’t wait to ring for an ambulance as it was a three hour wait! Later the nurse told him that without quick intervention he would have bled to death.
Home just after midnight having had scans and given the all clear. The kitchen looked like the site of a massacre. We were lucky that A&E was relatively quiet and he received excellent care. Didn’t sleep that well as I relived the events of the evening.
The only photo I took today was the cricket club weather vane and clock. Fingers crossed for a quiet day.
