Be There For Someone

On This Day In History
2010: Miep Gies, who hid Anne Frank, dies at the age of 100

Quote Of The Day
"I could anticipate the sleepless nights and the remorse I would feel later in life if I did not assist those in trouble. Remorse is far worse than any death I could have faced."
(Miep Gies)

These are omamori. Japanese people purchase them from shrines at the start of the year and the omamori brings good fortune to the purchaser. At the end of the year, when the omamori is drained of good fortune, it is disposed of and a new one purchased to bring another year of good fortune.

We should aim to feel similarly drained at the end of the year, refresh, and then commit ourselves to another year of bringing good fortune to others.
