Between fen and mountains

Moments before I took this photo there was steam billowing everywhere as from a steam engine but I got my phone out a little too late. The big pans contain various local dishes notably paella and boles de picolat. The latter are minced beef and pork meatballs in a tomato and olive sauce. I did a big shop in the market this morning followed by a tennis lesson.The only mussels I was able to get were Irish and they are not a patch on the moules de bouchot which I normally buy but these are now out of season. The Irish mussels are larger and less sweet so I think I will wait now until my favourites become available next summer. In the afternoon I went to French conversation and we had a new recruit who came back for a cup of tea.
