So, what to do on a rare night off from Panto? Well, start rehearsing for the next production of course!
Down to Lancaster for a full cast read through of “Blackadder”. The production is actually made up of three separate episodes, so tonight was quite unusual in that everyone was there, regardless of which episode they were in. Each episode will rehearse on different nights from now on, until the week before performance.
To get everyone warmed up the director had us up on stage doing a few theatre games before we started the read through. As I was struggling to breathe, I sat this one out as it involved a lot of running around!
The read through went well and it should be a very funny evening, as long as we can get the staging right - there are some quite complicated stage directions for our technical team to deal with.
The good news is that my character doesn’t actually have that many lines, when you add them all up. The bad news is that my character appears in each episode, so I will need to attend three rehearsals a week, even if I only have a handful of lines to deliver at each one. I might have to do some negotiating to get the odd night off.
Anyway, that’s not an issue until next week. I still have a Panto to finish. Oh yes I have!
