Transition

It’s been a week since I last posted - last time it was New Year’s Day. Funny how life feels slower in these short dark January days, yet things change quickly as we move on from the festive holiday. In my case, returning to work, sitting at my desk over seven hours a day.

Andy’s unfortunately still unwell with the cold virus I passed to him, so he has been resting all weekend, having probably done a few too many dog walks earlier in the week when he started to feel a little better. Consequently I’ve been doing two dog walks a day, which I enjoy, and the various cooking, cleaning and washing chores that need to be done each day. Merlin generates so much mud and hair at this time of year!

Anyway, it’s been a very wet and windy weekend so good for being inside getting ‘jobs’ done. I’ve also had two lovely conversations with family which have bolstered my spirits. And today I’ve had the run of the kitchen so enjoyed making leek and potato soup, hummus, and a childhood favourite comfort food - cheese and potato pie with tomatoes and rosemary - a sneaky lunchtime treat!

Another joy has been time to sit with a cup of tea looking out onto the witch hazel which is in flower in the garden. I’ve three varieties, each with a different colour of flower, but these red ones are my favourite.

Hoping your weekend was kind to you x
