Flying in da Jump Seat
A breezy morning, and showers in Edinburgh. It turned sunny, remained cold. Shetland, cold and gales, at least dry.
Up early, since it was raining, we didn't bother heading into Edinburgh. Checked out the airport hotel, and headed for the final leg of the journey home. Met mam's friend, Judy O'Neil in the airport, she was seeing off family to Colombia. A fine flight home. Popped by mam's on the way home, and then headed to Madeline's to pick up Sammy, and she had mince and tatties ready for tea. Brrrr, defo a night for the fire tonight. Missed Sammy for sure.
Headed to the plane, noticed pilot Robbie at the wheel, gave him a wave, and boarded the flight. Cabin crew, Beth Steele, came up to me and said Robbie had requested me to pop up to the cockpit and fly home in the jump seat, hurrah, yes please. My first time in the jump seat, so much going in. Robbie did explain some bits and bobs, but excitement took over and I never really heard much of it, more worried I touched something and crashed. I even got a set of headphones. 50mph winds in Shetland, so a bumpy view coming into land. Beth came with a cuppa, and we had a good fun all the way. Hope I get the chance to do that again. Captain Robbie Cockburn (L), first officer Ryan Bryce (R) preparing for takeoff at Edinburgh Airport. Extra is mid flight and approach to Sumburgh.
