2023 Saturday — Popcorn

Every weekend our local Ace Hardware rolls their popcorn machine from a back room to a place right next to the front door. Free popcorn is their weekend incentive. That’s what this photo is revealing.

We stopped at the hardware store today to purchase light bulbs for our backyard light fixtures. When we both stepped into the backyard in the rain late the other night, we discovered that a bulb was burned out. Thankfully the light fixture is a two-bulb style and we were not standing in the dark while coaxing our two pups to hurry with their business.

So that was the main event of our day. Also I finally put away the holiday decorations. The outside stairs that lead to our front door were lined with pumpkins (for the harvest Thanksgiving holiday) and then when December arrived, I wove a pretty red shiny garland into the pumpkin display to transform the stair decorations for a Harvest/Christmasy presentation. In the house I had a couple of Christmas stockings and some beautiful faux poinsettia flowers that are now packed away for another year. I’ve keep some of the red decorations that now are forecasting the Valentine’s celebration.

Now the wind is again kicking up and a light rain has fallen all evening. The local weather expert reports that another big storm is on the way to California’s Central Coast; so, we are again delighted that our backyard hillside has been reinforced with retaining wall.
