Birmingham's Memorial Feast

today, you are going to have a feast of Birmingham's monuments and memorials.. A treat for you all!

1st, above is The Hall of Memory, Birmingham's Main War Memorial
-- located at Centenary Square, erected 1922-25, in memory of 12,320 citizens of Birmingham who died in WWI. The four statues around the exterior represent the Army, Navy, Air Force amd Women's Services..
This is what you see when you go in at the centre, Supreme Sacrifice; at the left side, 'see to it that they shall not have suffered in vain', and at the right side, the casualties..

2nd is The Boer War Obelisk Memorial
-- the memorial obelisk for the Boer War of the late 19th century. This is found within the grounds of Birmingham Cathedral a.k.a St. Philip's Cathedral. The second Anglo-Boer War 1899-1902.

While going around Birmingham City Centre, we also came across Victoria Square where you can find The River or The Floozie in the Jacuzzi, which is the largest sculptural piece in the square. This building behind it is The Council House.

3rd is The Chamberlain Memorial, erected to commemorate public service of Joseph Chamberlain, a Birmingham businessman, councillor, mayor and MP, died1914.

4th and last is the monument of Boulton, Murdoch and Watt, famous sons of Birmingham who were businessmen, pioneers, inventors..

So there you go guys, a smorgasbord of monuments and memorials.. Hope you like them coz my feet now hurt from walking all over Birmingham City Centre, haha!!!

Thank you all so much for the wonderful comments and the stars you have showered me over this series. Far from over yet, but I am inspired by your appreciation.
