Inveraray

A good place to head through when driving home, Oban and the ferry are not too far from here.

A long day away from home delivering our beleaguered Motor Home to the repair shop in south of Glasgow. A sense of relief from both of us when dropping it off, nothing else fell off or broke down.

If you remember we had an accident a few weeks ago on a patch of black ice near home, the insurance company recommended a few work shops, this was the nearest and the manager couldn’t have been friendlier, a very pleasant man. I followed in the car stopping at the Real Food Cafe to charge the car and eat a bacon and egg roll, it kept us going all day until a hot chocolate in Tescos at 5.00pm.

We arrived home at 8.00 pm to find the fire lit, I can’t tell you how good this felt, thank you to our lovely neighbours N and C, (blipper Boomerang). Now we have to wait for news on how long the repair job to the van will take. We understand importing parts is a long winded job. This means no planning for time away in the van until we have it back on the island.

The weather was reasonable, extras show Loch Lommond from the car and looking up Loch Fyne from Arrochar when waiting at another stop to charge the car. (Our E car is a few years old now, 6 or 7, as an older model the battery is smaller, meaning less miles, more charging, also over the years the battery is less effective, less miles per charge. The time is looming (not sure about that word) to decide on whether we change the car, costly, or buying a new battery, costly. Or keep this one and hire a vehicle when heading off island. I’m in favour of the latter at the moment, not sure which way John is thinking.
