London A-Z: York Way N1...

...as the picture suggests we are heading towards the exit with only one more, extremely limiting, letter to go. Don't worry as usual I have a plan.

This is York Road tube station and before you ask, yes it is York Road but the road has been renamed to York Way. This tube station sits, (and I use the word sits because it still has its platforms) between Caledonian Road and Kings Cross stations on the Piccadilly Line, I am wondering now how many of you on your next journeys past will try and spot it in the tunnel because it is visible.

Being in a poor industrial area, the station saw little use, and Sunday services were withdrawn from 5 May 1918. The station remained open for weekday traffic until 19 September 1932 when it closed permanently.

However Europe's largest currently development is Kings Cross central, where 50 buildings, 2,000 new homes, 20 streets, 10 green squares for and expected 45,000 people to live and work, all about a 5 minute walk away from this abandoned station and have been discussed about it's reopening to relieve pressure from Kings Cross, so lets see.

I just say a quick thanks to all the messages of support (and concerns about my feet) for my participation and blip of the moonwalk. It really is a great event with an atmosphere hard to match, I do hope that my photos gave each of you a feel of that and if it has in anyway inspired you to take part or volunteer for either Edinburgh, Iceland of even London 2014, that would be great too. When you are in that sort of atmosphere you get so involved that you never realise how tired you are until you stop (or if today is anything to go by, the day after) one of my team was up for 33 hours!!!

So a big thanks to so many of you, I'll hopefully see you at the end of this marathon 26 blip series tomorrow.
