Guildford

It is said that to shop in Guildford one has to be young, slim and wealthy! I am none of these but I made my way by Park and Ride with a modest shopping list. Before the coming of the Park and Ride one had also to be fit to shop in Guildford because of the steep High Street. Park the car at the top of the town and one was faced with a weary climb at the end of the day, park at the bottom and it was a tiring uphill shop. Now I can get off the bus at the top of the town, work my way down and catch the bus home at the bottom.

I did manage to spend some money before I got to the bottom of the hill. The River Wey crosses at the foot of the High Street and this lovely red narrow boat was moored near the Town Lock.
