Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

The only one!

The only picture I took today! The lost charger for Eilidh's fit bit which had been under the couch since Boxing Day (we have been away, so there is an excuse!).
Today is Eilidh's 9th birthday and for the first time ever on her birthday I didn't see her. We had a video chat but no cuddles! Still we'll make up for it tomorrow I'm sure. It sounds like she had a lovely day and thoroughly enjoyed her party at a gym.

The day started in a bit of a rush, Ali sent me a message this morning to arrange to come over for coffee. First though she was going to the GP about a rash which Josie had. She then called back 10 minutes later having realised that Josie's car seat was still in my car after the trip up north. I dressed in minutes and drove round to pick them up and take them to the doctor. We made it in plenty of time. We're so lucky to live so close together for situations like that. The result of the visit though saw us driving up to the sick kids hospital to get her rash checked out as it wasn't fading when pressed. We ended up spending the best part of the day there, not what we'd planned.
All is well although poor Josie went through the mill, with blood samples being taken from the back of her hand. Fortunately she seems to share my side of the family's good veins. She did really well as did her poor mum. Big sister wasn't on duty today so we didn't see her. A&E isn't her department but I'm sure she'd have popped down if she'd been in.
It was hard to recognise the very real crisis in hospitals at the moment, from what we experienced. We were seen quickly and competently and reassured that nothing serious was going on. The hospital was very calm and not busy either, we were very lucky I know.
I did meet up with one of my former staff members who is now working at the hospital. I'd forgotten she was working there now although I do vaguely remember writing her reference! It was nice to see her.

That's two hospitals this week already, quite enough thank you! Talking of which Joyce headed home today and I didn't even see her to say goodbye. There were some delays and cancellations but she made it safely, only 15 minutes late.

Today is my 8th blipday, so I've had to mess about with my poor, solitary image in order to mark that. Not my best blip effort, but it's been one of those days.

Tomorrow will hopefully be a little less hectic.
