WE
Emma went to play a Room Escape Game with her friends. Myself, hubby and Peetu went to Pyynikki for a walk. There were three skiers, but otherwise the route was quiet, and beautifully snowy. Girls were able to escape 20 minutes earlier than their time ended, so the room was too easy for them! We picked up Emma and went to the Art Museum Sara Hilden. Thomas Houseago – WE with Nick Cave & Brad Pitt is on display only two more weeks! The exhibition marks the first time that all three artists have shown their work in Finland, and that Cave and Pitt have exhibited their art publicly. The Sara Hilden Art Museum was initially scheduled to exhibit solely the wide variety of works by Houseago — known for his sculptures — but he reportedly persuaded the museum to include works by his friends Pitt and Cave.
Renowned artist Houseago presents new large scale paintings and sculptures in Redwood and plaster.
Nick Cave shows glazed ceramic figurines depicting the life of the Devil in 17 stations, from innocence through experience into confrontation of our mortality. The Devil: A Life is Cave’s first major body of visual work. It includes 17 individual pieces ranging between 15 cm and 50 cm tall, each hand-crafted, painted and glazed by Cave in England, between 2020 and 2022. Aesthetically the series nods to the artist’s interest in Victorian Staffordshire Flatback figurines, of which he is a collector.
Among the nine works by Pitt on show are a house-shaped structure moulded in clear silicon and shot with bullets, and his first ever sculpture, House A Go Go: a 46 cm-tall miniature house made out of tree bark, crudely held together with tape. The largest pieces include a coffin-sized bronze box depicting hands, feet and faces attempting to break through the structure at various angles, and the plaster wall-hanging sculpture Aiming At You I Saw Me But It Was Too Late This Time, which depicts a gun fight between eight figures.
“We’re just three dudes, and we’re just making stuff,” says Houseago, talking about their first show at the Sara Hildén Art Museum, and how struggles with addiction have brought the three men together.
In the picture is one of Cave's work from his series The Devil - A Life. It is blue hour outdoors, that makes a great background. Houseago's and Pitt's works are as extra photos.
