Aberlady Bay
Another slow start to the day, as it should be during the Christmas holidays. The Lammermuirs were white this morning, so they may have had a white Christmas after all. There was some tidying and talk of a Christmas jigsaw, but late morning TT and I headed over to the coast for a walk. We parked in Gullane and walked to Aberlady Bay. It was lovely and bright, but we were walking into the wind, so it was a hat and a hood kind of a day! We could see the weather coming towards us and there was an imposing black cloud, which we guessed was a snow cloud coming towards us. Edinburgh and Fife both disappeared from view and there was a slight shower, but nothing to worry about. Behind us there was still a blue sky and looking inland it still looked lovely. We walked along Aberlady Bay, did a circuit of the nature reserve and re-joined the coastal path. It was quite dark in all directions by then, and very quickly the weather closed in on us. It started as rain which quickly turned to sleet. We were rather damp when we got back to the car. The journey home was through the sleet, which turned to snow and really heavy snow at that – though it didn’t last long.
We had paninis for Lunch, made with leftovers from yesterday. Then the jigsaw appeared. It’s a Christmas scene, leant to us by TT’s sister. We made a start, but the light wasn’t great – at least that is our excuse. Later there was chicken parmentier, made by TT, for tea. And even later there was the Detectorists. A lovely lazy Boxing Day.
This is Aberlady Bay, before the weather closed in on us.
