Christmas Cheers To Our Late Queen Elizabeth II
Backblip
My Second Elizabethan Era theme for Christmas Day went down well with the family. All the titbits based on school dinners and popular foods from the 1950's disappeared, including surprisingly the Spam and cream cheese striped loaf.
We kicked off with a tea party based on Paddington's Jubilee meeting with Queen Elizabeth. I'd dug out an old silver teapot from the shed and served Long Island Iced Tea from it into ancient Coalport dolls' cups and saucers.
My granddaughter made us the Queen's favourite Dubonnet and gin cocktail. I mentioned in an earlier blip the borage plant that popped up in the rough grass this winter. I picked and froze the flowers in ice cubes before the plant got killed by the frost. These looked so pretty in the mini ice cube trays but in our drinks looked like drowned spiders once the ice melted.
Shame that our grandson walked into a wall on Christmas Eve and got a heart-shaped graze. (Extras) It was lovely to see him getting on so well with our son.
