Rolvenden Station
The day ended on the worst possible note with the already delayed final train from Tenterden failing at Rolvenden on the way back. As I write we are two hours down.
We’re waiting for an assistance locomotive to come down from Tenterden to drag the failed train up the hill. So far we are two hours late and understandably many passengers are getting irate. Some wanted to walk up to Tenterden along the main A road which doesn’t have a footpath or any street lights. We advised against this.
Earlier, despite some small delays, all had worked well and I passed out as Rolvenden Level Crossing Keeper. As darkness fell there were opportunities for some atmospheric night time shots.
Edit: train finally arrived back in Tenterden 8.15. The assisting diesel had to be extracted from the shed where it was boxed in by a carriage and the DMU. I had to wait until the light engines came back down to Rolvenden before I could leave at 9.00pm.
A long shift, left home at 8.30am this morning, arrived back at 9.40pm.
