Dymchurch Beach
A rotten weather day. We were looking forward to a bracing walk in the sun along the beach after a coffee and scone at the Bucket and Spade cafe and fish and chips at the Pilot at Dungeness.
What we got was cold driving rain and a cafe that was closed. The only alternative cafe was a disappointment, a greasy spoon example.
We braved the weather, quite enjoying it really, particularly when we turned around at Greatstone and had the elements behind us.
Fish and chips were an ample reward and provided sustenance for the journey to the Chequers at Doddington, near Faversham for a quite splendid evening of traditional Christmas entertainment.
First there was the Hoodening: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoodening then accompanied by a band we sang, with enthusiasm and gusto many carols. Great to hear the carols sung in the pub as they are in the Yorkshire tradition - as championed by Kate Rusby.
