After our very late arrival last night into Rotterdam Airport, we got a taxi to our hotel in The Hague.

Went for a wander this morning to try to find somewhere for breakfast. I had an image in my head of the sort of place I’d like. Kind of a European outdoor cafe in a square type thing. However couldn’t find anything so just grabbed something from a bakery cos we were starving. Then went for another wander, and bumped into our friends Alison, Andrew & Caron (who are over here for the sane reason as us)! They suggested going for a coffee - 60 seconds walk round the corner was the exact image I’d had in my head! A pedestrianised square full of cute cafes. Typical!

We then got the tram out to the beach at Scheveningen. What a beautiful beach it is too and the whole area is so clean. They have a big pier there with a big wheel, bungee jump and zip wire on it. We went on the Big Wheel but weren’t brave enough to try the rest. Then walked along the beach as I wanted to see the old wartime German bunkers. I climbed over a small fence and walked through the sand dunes and scrub to get to them, while the others carried on walking along the beach. Only once I’d walked round and met them at the other side did I see a big sign which, even with my lack of Dutch language skills, obviously meant the dunes were forbidden to enter. Oops!

Nice, leisurely walk back along a trail into the town and jumped on a tram back into the cebtre of The Hague.

This evening we all met up with some other Scottish people we know, for a big group meal at a really nice restaurant.

The “Z” will be revealed tomorrow!
