Baking Day
We got up and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast until time to go to Brooklyn’s 10:15 am basketball game. Her team won by a huge margin. She had some great plays. Love watching her play. On the way home, Hubby dropped me off at Kristen’s. We had a quick lunch and got busy. As you can see, it was Christmas cookie making and baking day. Thankfully, she started yesterday. There was still a pan of pecan pie bars in the oven when I snapped this photo but we needed the counter to make dinner. This year, she made 18 varieties in honor of her first child, Skylar, who turns 18 on Christmas Eve. Rice Krispie treats were this year’s addition. We usually have a house full of children helping. Today, we enjoyed just the two of us in the kitchen. I finished cleaning the kitchen counters as the last batch went into the oven, no mess, no stress. Hubby took my birthstone (Pearl) ring to be sized. My arthritic knuckles have really changed my finger sizes. He also worked on my new e-bike, one that I can ride more comfortably. Kim stopped by to pick up their stockings which they will open Christmas afternoon when we get to their home. She also dropped off Brooklyn’s Christmas gift. We finished baking around 5:00. Hubby came to get me and had dinner with us. We came home after cleaning up the kitchen, again. It is definitely Kindle time. I will get back to your journals tomorrow. Just need to “veg” awhile. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you had a fun weekend. Stay safe and healthy. “Christmas cookies and happy hearts, this is how the holiday starts.” - Unknown
