Icy walk

Yet another very cold day.  Some sunshine but it made little difference to the temperature.  Poor Kyro wants to walk but the ground is frozen hard.  Managed two brief walks morning and afternoon.  The photo on the right is ice on a nearby residential road junction.  

On our afternoon walk used the pavement of nearby main road.  If I didn't have my Yaktrax I'd have had to walk on the road like the pedestrian we encountered.  The pavement was covered in ice and the recently renovated cycle lane was equally dangerous.  This is part of a route to a nearby primary school.  Why the council didn't make it safe for parents and children beggars belief.  And they have a pushy drive for active travel: walking, cycling and using the bus.  Small wonder people want to use their cars when walking and cycling aren't safe and several bus services are cut due to driver shortage.
