My first identified bird

This is it! This is the reason I bought a book of finnish birds.
This is my first bird I have recognized from the book. Tadaa. The bird is.

A ring dove (Columba palumbus).

The real reason for learning the finnish birds is my godson Sampo. Once he is a bit bigger, I want to take him to the beautiful finnish nature (almost as beautiful as in NZ) and teach him all the possible things I can. From what berries you can eat, to the tracks of different mammals and to the sound of birds.

So far, I hardly recognize a bird from a cat. And the only rule of thumb is that cats eat birds.

Yet, I'm confident I will learn and have something to share to Sampo!
