Christmas Is Coming

Well, it’s a step nearer anyway, in the sense that everything Christmas related is now out of the loft and piled up in the living room. Which then begs the question as to why two people, living in a small, two bedroomed bungalow, need so many Xmas decorations - most of which will end up adorning just this one room!
I continue to suffer from the cold - both the constant sub-zero temperatures outside, and the lurgy that has a firm grip on my nose throat and lungs at the moment. All I’ve done today is a bit of shopping, and it exhausted me. No chance of relaxing this afternoon either, as the pavement opposite our house was being dug up. I didn’t envy the workmen their job though - it was so cold that they had to use a burner to soften the ground before they could even get started with the jackhammers. Consequently, it was far too noisy to get any rest until thankfully it became too dark for them to work. No idea what they are digging for though. They’re nothing to do with the new fibre broadband and we still have working electricity, gas and water. I’m assuming that if it had been anything affecting those services, we would have been told. We’ll just have to wait and see if it becomes clearer tomorrow when (if?) they come back.
Anyway, curtains are now drawn, heating is on and I’m home alone with my feet up for a couple of hours before heading out to Panto rehearsal. And maybe whilst I’m out, the Christmas fairy will work her magic and put the tree and decorations up. Who knows what wondrous scenes might greet me upon my return…
